Franco & César Oboni - decisions making, alternatives selection, sustainable business management for industry, governments and communities facing environmental changes, global warming and terrorism

Highways:

Halsema Road, Luzon, Philippines:

A hazard management approach to the survivability of a two hundred kilometers stretch of mountainous highway in central Luzon, performed through a joint venture between US and Philippine Consultants, was undertaken in the capacity of international expert for hazard identification and the analysis of alternative design of corrective measures.

120km Andean road, Peru:

With a team of three other experts, a Risk Assessment mission for a 120km-long mountainous mine access road, rich in unstable and extremely active environments was performed.

Chemical and hazardous material transport in mountainous regions can be challenging.

Fréjus Highway, Italy:

A team of experts performed the study of two major landslides along this very critical highway linking Italy and France through the Fréjus Tunnel. SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) were investigated as possible monitoring system coupled to innovative modeling tools.

Highways and transportation corridors can be exposed to large superficial or deep-seated rock or soil slides (landslides).

National Highway 1, Various locations in Italy, Bridges in Algeria:

Risk assessments for various major projects and existing bridges in Switzerland, Italy and Algeria. Participated to evaluation teams in various occasions, including major projects in South America.

Highway networks and lines of communications are an ideal arena for the risk manager.

Bridge abutments and pillars have to consider floods and flash flooding conditions; debris flows and mud flows have to be considered too.

120km road, Madagascar:

Expert mission for a 120km-long mountainous road, which presented several soil/rock hazardous slopes/fills where instability phenomena had occurred during rainy seasons.
